Birch Shoreline

Birch Shoreline

I painted Birch Shoreline after a string of mornings spent walking the same stretch of Woodbury water before the town woke up. There's a particular cold light that only lasts twenty minutes or so, when the birches go silver-white and the lake hasn't decided yet whether it's blue or grey. I wanted to catch that hesitation — the moment before the day commits to a mood.
